The project “Corso for Us” [Corso pro nás] originated through the initiative of local associations as a reaction to the activities of the Ústí nad Labem municipal council connected to the renovation of the Corso architectural complex at the housing estate Krásné Březno. In the wake of no public discussion, the project supported the creation of resources for a common reflection on the future of Corso. The aim of this project is to create a vision which will suit the needs of local residents in relation to the modernistic complex and at the same time, strengthen their engagement in urban planning and interest in public space. The project’s exhibition presentation is a form of its archiving and reflection: by an analysis of the organised events, the Spolka Collective is asking what elements, fragments, atmospheres and situations form the space intended to strengthen citizen initiatives in Ústí nad Labem.
The project originated as a collaboration of associations Krásné sousedění, Participativní platforma pro urbánní kreativitu a kritiku, Tmel Initiative, Public Hall Hraničář, TU Berlin, Čarokrásno and Spolka. Spolka is a collective of architects, urbanists and sociologists who dedicate themselves to participative formation of sustainable towns.
