The ongoing project “Moulding” presents a visual investigation into the transformation of countries that were formerly part of the “Eastern Bloc”, exploring how their political apparatuses mould both visible and invisible layers of everyday lives. The displayed chapter of the project is situated in Slovenia, traversing from cities to small towns and rural areas. The photographs draw a line between the past of Slovenia, as often manifested in the form of “Yugonostalgia”, and the contemporary political situation in the country. In particular, it focuses on the Slovenian referendum on the protection of natural water resources, which took place in 2021. The referendum raised concerns about the conflict between corporate and environmental interests and provoked extensive civic engagement.
